INEOS
Phenol GmbH & Co.KG was originally founded in Gladbeck, a town
located in the western part of Germany, under the name Phenolchemie.
The company started production in 1954 with a capacity of 8,000
t/a phenol
and 5,000 t/a acetone. Through multiple expansions over the years,
this facility has grown into the world's largest phenol plant with
a capacity
of 650,000 t/a phenol and 390,000 t/a acetone. In addition to production,
the Gladbeck site serves as the global headquarters for INEOS Phenol. |

The process of phenol production at INEOS Phenol is continuously
being improved in order
to increase the plant efficiency, to reduce the consumption of raw
materials and energy as well
as air and water emissions and to increase safety to the highest
industry standards.
Due to the plant's close proximity to residential neighborhoods,
INEOS Phenol has developed high environmental standards to ensure
a good and trusting relationship with the plant's neighbors
as well as the authorities. Our environmental management system
fully complies
with EN ISO 14001, a system combining high environmental standards
with open public dialogue.
To assure this a "day of open doors" is held every 2 to
3 years and over 1,000 local residents typically come to visit the
plant and learn about its latest environmental and safety standards.
We are DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 certified and since 1991 have received
numerous quality certificates. Raw materials are transported by
pipeline, rail, and truck and over 50% of the finished products
are shipped by rail. With a high plant reliability, consistent quality,
and extensive logistical infrastructure, it is our clear target
to deliver to our customers on time and within specification
every time.
